Leapin' Louie's Reading Encouragement Shows
feature high energy comedy with cowboy and juggling stunts that really get the kids excited. Taking advantage of his experience doing comedy variety shows in 21 different countries, Leapin' Louie shows are more fun and exciting then about any other reading show. The show features cowboy rope tricks, juggling, puppetry, magic, riding a six-foot unicycle, and lots of bringing kids on stage and audience participation.

Taking advantage of his elementary school teacher's certification and masters level courses in children's literature, Louie's reading encouragement messages and children's literature content are strong and central to the show. In the show Louie shows and talks about a dozen high quality children's titles with a few of them brought to life with full 5 minute comedy routines.

The secondary theme of the show, especially emphasized in schools is: Don't be afraid of making mistakes, that's how you learn!

New for 2007: The 2007 reading encouragement show is called Leapin’ Louie Looks at ---Everything! Included are four completely new routines: Two science of juggling routines that feature science books including Seymour Simon books, a twisted puppet character that introduces “naughty” humor books like Captain Underpants and Scieszka/Smith works, and a three ball mystery routine. Plus a few old favorites like the six-foot unicycle finale.

In 2006 I gave away my personal favorite book list with over 200 books. In 2007 I’ll have a web based book list spiffed up and I’ll give away Pigs for Books bucks with the website referral.

Leapin' Louie has performed his reading encouragement show at more then 50 schools and libraries in Oregon and Southwest Washington. He has been a favorite repeat performer for Multnomah County libraries and at many other local library branches.

The show lasts fifty minutes.
Louie brings a small sound system which is adequate for up to 500 people.
The show needs a performing space of at least 6 ft wide by 7 ft long. 8 foot ceiling (regular residential height) is OK, Wider and taller performing areas are better but I am used to performing in small places.
